Danie picked back up her First Hermione’s Everyday Socks, and finished the body of her handspun cardigan. She’s less than thrilled with the bottom hem treatment, and will be swatching alternatives. She cast on a Candy Cane Stocking using Valley Yarns Northampton Sport in Ocean Heather and Natural, and a Glenfiddich sweater in Miss Babs Yowza in Cloak. Her best-laid fitting plans ran into a son of a stitch, but she’s re-plotted her course.

Contest

Finished Projects

Susie finished her Third Birthday Socks and they are a BIG hit! She also started and finished the pattern sample for her new shawl design the Hellebore Shawl.

Danie finished her Sugared Violets after a couple sons of a stitch. They were worth it though, because the finished shawl is stunning.

Current Projects

Susie is banging out her second Bang Whiz sock, and has reached the project’s tipping point. She also worked on her second Bob & Weave sock. She finished the body on her Peekaboo sweater and picked up the stitches for the first sleeve. It’s a little slow going because she’s magic-looping, and it’s not her favorite.

Danie worked a bit on her Featherweight Cardigan, and one her Stained Glass Sock Blanket. She also cast on Corrugated Box by von Hinterm Stein with One Twisted Tree Lavish in Shrewd Lady Mary.

Current Projects

Danie started a second Mama Vertebrae using One Twisted Tree Lavish in Miss Fisher’s Pearl Handled Pistol, and worked on her 60 Stitch Skyp Socks. She also restarted one of her Dude Socks in the quest of a heel that fits right and that she can stand to knit repeatedly.

Susie worked on her scrap blanket as a sort of palate cleanser, after finishing the body of her Dragonflies Jumper. She also cast on a new pair of Swirl E. Socks using Knitterly Things Vesper Yarn in Junebug, and worked more on her Bonnie’s Wish.

Project Reconsideration

Contest

Enter to win a copy of the Twisted Sand Mitts pattern or the Triple Swell Hat pattern! Post in the contest thread on the Ravelry group and tell us where you see yourself wearing these lovely accessories, and we will randomly draw two lucky winners.

Current Projects

Susie knit her Water and Stone to the cuff, and so far everything is going according to plan. She also picked up stitches for the button side of the buttonband on her Chill Chaser Cardigan, and knit to the heel on her Electric Rainbow Friendship Socks. The more she knits the more she likes. She also cast on a new project – the Ozukuri Lace Shawl.

Danie got past the heel on her first Stitches Socks. She also finished the first of her worsted weight socks, minus the heel (which is an intentional afterthought), and finished the toe on the second one, and picked up the stitches for the first sleeve on her Mama Vertebrae.

Wear Report

Danie has darned her Dinna Fash Mittens. Despite how early the darning was needed, she adores them. They are wonderfully warm, and the yarn is holding up well aside from the thumb bits.

New to Me

Danie loves her Knit Picks crochet hook keychain, and Susie only wants to drink out of her Gnome Acres mugs.

Episode 32 – Happy Hunting!

In this episode, the Prairie Girls hide some Easter eggs. Danie explains the foot in the room, and Susie winds some yarn into submission.

Listen here.

The girls announce the “If You Like It Then You Should Have Put a Label On It” contest. Running through May 15, 2014, post your customized care instructions in the thread in the Ravelry group to enter a chance to win a set of labels from Mountain Street Arts.

Finished Projects

Susie finished her Grenadine, and it is fabulous, even if she does say so herself. She pretty much loves everything about it.

Danie finished her StarBrite socks, and a third foot with which she monitored her progress. She knit a heel of her own design, and is still fine-tuning it.

Current Projects

Danie worked on her Dreambird a bit, and cast on a new Lintilla using Crock-O-Dye in the Plum Black colorway.

Susie worked on her Zigzagular Socks,  and cast on a 3/4 Hap Shawl using Malabrigo Yarn Sock in Chocolate Amargo and Violeta Africana. She had great difficulty winding the yarn for the project, but she showed it how was boss.

Future Projects

In keeping with their Mother’s Day tradition, the girls discuss possibilities for their second annual cast-ons. Danie is stuck on the yarn question, and Susie is thinking of TGV (High Speed Knitting) or Song of the Sea.

Enhance the Stash

Danie enhanced fiber stash with some gorgeous stuff from Countess Ablaze in the colorway Ice Queen.

New to Me

Susie has very much been enjoying the Susan B. Anderson‘s video podcast.

Listen here.

Miscellaneous projects, shops, and patterns mentioned include Mountain Street Arts, the Grenadine cardigan, Nuvem, the Doctor Who TARDIS afghan, Evenstar, Spider Queen, and Herbert Niebling lace designs

Finished Project/2014 Ravellenics Recap

Susie finished her Ahoy Matey! or The Pirate Pullover. She has received outside approval on her seed-stitch seaming and so is satisfied. Overall she likes the project a lot, and looks forward to seeing it in action sooner than later.

Danie finished  her Middlefield Pullover. It is down to the ground amazing. She continued to battle speed bumps until the very end, having to knit the second sleeve twice after discovering four extra stitches. She is extremely happy with the fit.

Current Projects

Susie worked more on her Conwy socks, and is close to starting the heel flap. She had a son of a stitch with the Learning Curve she started Thursday evening, but rebounded with the Elizabeth Shawl, and feels it’s a good fit for the Maple Ridge Lace in the Tansy colorway.

The new meaning to Danie’s life is the Miranda sweater, inspired by a friend’s version. She is using Knit Picks Swish DK in Indigo Heather. She has a niggling doubt for some reason as to the ease, but is going to try to have faith and keep going.

Contest

Join the Prairie Girls in their game of “Would You Rather…?”! Post yours by March 30th in the contest thread in the Ravelry group to be included in a drawing for a beautiful Halcyarn bag.
