Episode 136 – The One with All the Dogs

Susie worked on both of her Life’s a Peach socks again (this one and this one). She also cast on The Shallow socks out of Another Crafty Girl Strong Sock in the Voice of Reason colorway and a new self-striping sock design out of Nomadic Yarns Brit Sock in the Gives Me Goosebumps colorway. She also cast on a Moonquake cowl out of Suburban Stitcher Sport in the Eggplant and Masquerade colorways.

Danie worked on her Chicago Socks and her Home Alone Socks.

Enhance the Stash

Susie enhanced her stash in a major way at DFW Fiber Fest. She picked up a Bolga basket from Windmill Crest Farms, three skeins of Must Stash Yarns & Fiber Perfect Self Striping Sock in the Vespa, Ready Player One, and I am Strong colorways, two skeins of a thing for string Himalayan Sock (undyed) to make a Siberian rustic shawl, and a skein of Teeny Button Studio Soft Sock in the Flying Horses colorway. From Suburban Stitcher she picked up a shawl kit for a Time Trades shawl, a skein of Sock on the show colorway Irving to make Hello Sunshine socks, four skeins of Sport in Eggplant and Masquerade for the already started Moonquake cowl, a total of five skeins of Merino DK in Eggplant, Clam City, Neptune and Bashful to make a Soldotna Crop (for the record, Danie’s surprise was that no color direction was provided as a jumping off point), and two skeins of Single Sock in the Eggplant and Clam City. She also picked up the cutest hedgehog project bag from Whimzee Stitches, and various notions and pins from both Whimzee Stitches and Suburban Stitcher as well as a mini shawl pin from Crafty Flutterby Creations.

Episode 135 – The Accurate Episode

In this episode, the girls are up to their usual tangents and chats.

Please note that this episode was recorded almost 2 weeks ago, just as the major flooding that has devastated much of Nebraska and the Midwest was beginning. We mention the evacuation of a local lake community briefly without knowing the extent of the evacuations and hardship to come. Our hearts and thoughts are with those who have been affected and are still dealing with the aftermath of the floods.

Susie enhanced her stash a skein of Six and Seven Fiber Soybean in the Barista colorway as well as February’s Park Passport Club skein of Suburban Stitcher Merino DK in the Sequoia & King’s Canyon National Park colorway.

Danie enhanced her stash by dyeing up three new gorgeous sweater quantities.

Susie finished a shawl and a cowl, both of her own design.

Danie finished some more really adorable pig food – a watermelon slice of her own design and a truffle. She also finished a Two By Two watch cap and added a folded brim to her Thundertwist hat.

Susie knit a bit on her Oh! Scrap Blanket, and started an LYS sample of her Hellebore Shawl pattern out of Brown Sheep Prairie Spun DK in the Huckleberry Pie colorway. She also cast on a Tracie out of Suburban Stitcher Sock in Cinder and Yarn Lang Syne, and worked more on her Berlin Soft.

Danie made a hard decision to re-work her Daelyn Pullover, and now it is knitting along swimmingly. She also cast on Jaywalker using Biscotte Yarns Bis-Sock in the Gazania colorway. She also cast on a pair of socks using Knit Picks Felici in Rainbow, with Knit Picks Stroll in Ash for heels and toes.

New to Me

Susie found a couple new podcasts, Wine & Crime and Off Book. Both are hilarious in very different ways.

KISS

Susie grew a vegetable container garden for the first time this year, and has had great success with lettuces, radishes, cucumbers, sweet peppers and hot peppers. She has turned into a pickle-making machine.

Danie’s family has started exploring the wonders of whey by making their own yogurt and cheese.

Susie started a Pebble Beach Shawl out of Leading Men Fiber Arts Diva in the Yarnhoarder colorway.

Danie added a square to her Stained Glass Sock Blanket (not her WeekEnder Hexi Blanket). She also put a 5th heel into her Downpour Socks which didn’t work, but has a new heel plan in place.

Project: Reconsideration

Susie reconsidered her Vedai. It has languished far too long, and she’s just doesn’t love it anymore. She is very taken with Ryo, however, which is likely what the yarn will become.

Danie reconsidered her Staring at Stars out of Miss Babs’ Yowza in the Denim colorway. She is considering striping the yarn with some of her early hand-dyed in a Cattails or a Naima.

Happily, Danie added a bunch of squares her Stained Glass Sock Blanket. Less happily, she almost finished her pair of Broncos socks and put in three heels into her Downpour Socks, and realized both are a touch too tight. (The culprit is clearly humidity ankles.)

Susie worked on her Endless Maze Socks, and cast on the Weekend Pullover using Luna Grey Fiber Arts Nova Worsted in Brickhouse.

finished Oh, Scrap! Blanket squares #20 and #21 of 63, and started a Bunny Hat with Chin Ties using Cascade Yarns 220 Superwash in a buff color. She also worked more on her Downpour Socks, and started a new self-designed pair she is calling the Endless Maze Socks using Panorama Fiber Arts Hitchhiker Sock in Torrent.

Danie worked a bit on , and on her WeekEnder Hexi Blanket. She also worked on her I See You Socks.
