Episode 78 – Shawl Series 3: Multi-Color Shawls

In this episode, the girls chat about multi-colored shawls. Susie tries to get everyone drunk, and Danie says ‘Current Projects’ like a pro.

Listen here.

Miscellaneous things mentioned include Susie’s Bob & Weave sock pattern release (use code ‘3RDBDAY’ to get 33% off through October 9, 2015), Danie’s first and second Mama Vertebraes, and way too many multi-colored shawl patterns to link to. Please check out Susie’s queue and Danie’s favorites for patterns mentioned.

One Twisted Tree will be at the Nebraska Knit & Crochet Guild’s Fall Retreat’s market at Mahoney State Park on Sunday, September 27, 2015.

Finished Projects

Susie finished her Third Birthday Socks and they are a BIG hit! She also started and finished the pattern sample for her new shawl design the Hellebore Shawl.

Danie finished her Sugared Violets after a couple sons of a stitch. They were worth it though, because the finished shawl is stunning.

Current Projects

Susie is banging out her second Bang Whiz sock, and has reached the project’s tipping point. She also worked on her second Bob & Weave sock. She finished the body on her Peekaboo sweater and picked up the stitches for the first sleeve. It’s a little slow going because she’s magic-looping, and it’s not her favorite.

Danie worked a bit on her Featherweight Cardigan, and one her Stained Glass Sock Blanket. She also cast on Corrugated Box by von Hinterm Stein with One Twisted Tree Lavish in Shrewd Lady Mary.

New to Me

Susie has been enjoying a new-to-her audio podcast called The Sweet Georgia Show, hosted by Felicia Lo of Sweet Georgia Yarns.

Enhance the Stash

Danie celebrated her birthday by treating herself to a Single Shot bag from Kitchen Counter Crafter, an Oh! Loops fingering-weight skein in Mermaid’s Song, and a Lo-Lo bar.

Episode 77 – Prairie Girls Potpourri: Catching Up

In this episode, the girls catch up after too long away from the mic (and each other)!

Listen here.

Miscellaneous things mentioned include goodstuff’s Perpendicular Cowl, Knitsy digital magazine, Susie’s Electric Rainbow Friendship Socks, the German Twisted Cast-On, Susie’s Gramps Cardigan, the other Gramps sweater, horseshoes in Springfield, Knit One Weave Too, and Knitorious.

Events

The first Prairie Girls’ meet-up will be at It’s Yours Pottery on September 19, 2015 at 1:00pm.

Finished Projects

Susie finished her Ozukuri Lace Shawl, which found its forever home with the lovely mrsshoo from the In a sKnit video podcast. She also finished the prototype of a shawl she is designing and is calling the Hellebore Shawl. She also started AND finished a new shawl, the Reyna shawl pattern, out of Larkshead Sock 101 (base not listed in Ravelry) in the colorway Vlad.

Danie finished her Holiday Stocking!

Current Projects

Susie finished the first of her Fork in the Road Socks, but hasn’t started the second one because she stole the needles to start a different sock project. She is cruising down the leg of her second Bang Whiz. She slowed down a bit because she thought she might have knit the first one’s foot slightly short, but after several try-ons, she has decided it’s fine and she’s ready to proceed. She also started her Third Birthday Socks, using Another Crafty Girl’s Strong Sock in the I Can Fix It! colorway, and has finished the first and is approaching the heel flap of the second. She started a pair of matching socks for herself using Another Crafty Girl’s Strong Sock in the Spring Peony colorway. She also started a Peekaboo using Berroco Vintage in Azure. She also started a new lace shawl, Anemone, using One Twisted Tree Lace in the Acid Peacock colorway, and it is all she wants to knit on forever.

Danie worked on her Cotton Top, and very narrowly missed putting in armholes. She also added a square to her Stained Glass Sock Blanket. The majority of her knitting time was devoted to her Sugared Violets shawl.

Enhance the Stash

Susie spent a weekend in Illinois, and came home with some Vice Blurred Lines in Teal Deer and Frabjous Fibers Mad Hatter in Sleeping Gryphon and Pennyworth,  in addition to the Larkshead Sock 101 in Vlad that she already knit up.

Danie came home from Stitches Midwest with a Dumpling Batt from Wool Pierogi in October Dreams, a skein of Another Crafty Girl’s Strong Sock in Gamut, a wallet from Kitchen Counter Crafter, a t-shirt from Knerd, a set of mini skeins from Gnome Acres, a project bag from Slipped Stitch Studios, and a Yarn Buddy to review from Sun Valley Fibers.
