Episode 43 – How Do Prairie Girls Learn Best

In this episode, the girls compare notes on how they learn best. Danie had fun with sock blanks, and Susie was a one-project knitter.

Finished Projects

Danie dyed not one, but two sock blanks she worked up (with a little help) using Knit Picks Bare Stroll. One is a Broncos-inspired colorway in blue and orange, and the other a rainbow gradient.

Current Projects

Susie worked exclusively on her Hitofude Cardigan, and is hoping to be finished with it very soon.

Danie continued working on her Featherweight Cardigan, and is making steady progress. Her Bramble Fern is in a temporary timeout, so she cast on socks from her Broncos yarn, and is trying a customized toe, and knit a bit on her Spectra as well.

Project Reconsideration

Susie is reconsidering a long-suffering Christmas stocking.

Episode 42 – Knitter, Know Thyself

In this episode, the girls talk about knowing themselves as knitters. Susie is making fraternal socks, and Danie spits for sleeves (not a typo).

Finished Projects

Danie finished her Countess Ablaze fiber. She got approximately 100 yards of worsted weight, and is open to pattern suggestions for it.

Current Projects

Susie worked on her Swirl E. Socks, finishing the first one, and started a colorwork hat.

Danie split for the sleeves on her Featherweight Cardigan. She also cast on a Bramble Fern Sweater using Knit Picks Comfy Worsted. She also cast on a Spectra using the Alisha Goes Around Unicorn Fingering in a purple and a teal that she picked up at Iowa Sheep & Wool.

Review

The girls review Bijou Basin Ranch’s Himalayan Trail yarn and are in love with their Outlandish Collection! Check out the weekly sales they are having through August 10th.

In this episode, the girls have no clear direction. Danie recounts her many finished projects, and Susie traded shawls for socks.

Danie finished her Noodle, and he’s even more adorable with his appendages attached. She also finished her Zigzagular Socks and decided to put in foot-specific toes. She also dyed the natural yarn she got at Iowa Sheep & Wool a lovely spruce-y, teal-y blueish green color.

Susie worked on two pairs of socks she’s playing around with designing, and motored through the sleeves on her Hitofude.

Danie worked on her Featherweight Cardigan poolside.

Danie finished her handspun TGV! She can tell where her plying improved throughout the skein, but it’s a gorgeous shawlette and she’s happy with how it knit up.

Susie finished her Tan House Brook Shawl and any doubts about the highly variegated yarn in the pattern have been dispelled. She loves it.

Current Projects

Susie pulled out her neglected Hitofude and cast on a pair of gift socks.

Danie worked on her Zigzagular Socks and the most adorable Noodle.

Danie got herself a box of yarn from Knit Picks to make kid sweaters.

Susie finished her Bramble Fern and can hardly contain herself with the adorableness of this little sweater. She came in just under the Camp Loopy Project 1 yardage requirements, but it brings her Stash Dash 2014 total to 1962 yds.

Current Projects

Danie worked on her Lintilla, and her Zigzagular Socks. She also went cast-on crazy and started a TGV out of her own beautiful handspun, a Featherweight Cardigan, and a Noodle.

Susie worked her Tan House Brook Shawl, and is leaning towards adding an extra textured section since she seems to have the yarn for it.

Enhance the Stash

Susie came home from the festival with a t-shirt from Knit Bah Purl and yarn from Hidden Valley Farm & Woolen Mill, Yarn Geek Fiber Super Geek in Caroline Hershel, and Alisha Goes Around Unicorn Twist in a turmeric/cumin color.

Danie also got a t-shirt from Knit Bah Purl, yarn from Morning Meadows Sundries LLC and  Alisha Goes Around Unicorn Twist in teal and purple, and baby alpaca/silk/baby camel fiber.

In this episode, the girls talk about beaded knitting. Danie struts her shawl stuff, and Susie publishes her first pattern.

Danie finished her Tan House Brook Shawl and it is stunning! This was her first foray into beaded knitting, and it was a roaring success.

Susie finished her second pair of Zigzagular Socks and released the pattern as a free Ravelry download. Her Stash Dash 2014 total stands at 1599 yds. She was so completely wrong and actually has 3869 yds to successfully complete the Dash.

Susie worked a little on her Tan House Brook Shawl, and started her Bramble Fern for Camp Loopy 2014 Project 1. She’s roughly a sleeve-and-a-half in and is greatly enjoying the pattern.

Current Projects

Danie worked on her Lintilla, and her Zigzagular Socks. She also started her own Tan House Brook Shawl, and it is consuming her knitting time and thoughts. She is adding beads, her first beaded project, and it is lovely!

Susie picked back up her Tan House Brook Shawl and is looking forward to getting to the lace and textured sections. She also added an inch or so to her Hitofude.

Future Projects

Susie is looking forward to casting on Bramble Fern for her Camp Loopy 2014 Project 1 on Sunday, June 1st.

Danie is surprising herself by planning a fingering-weight cardigan.

Danie made good progress on her Lintilla, and is zooming along on her Zigzagular Socks. She started spinning her Countess Ablaze fiber in the Ice Queen colorway, and it is pure magic.

Susie worked on her myriad shawls: TGV and Tan House Brook ShawlElizabeth is still in timeout, but will be picked up in the next week. She also casted on her Hitofude. She has had a few false starts, but will be casting on for what is hopefully the final, and successful, time.

Wear Report

Danie provided a report on the wear of one of the TINY tea leaves cardis.

Susie ranted about the fibery references on Suburgatory, and delighted in the one on Fargo.

Current Projects

Susie ran into a(nother) snag with her Elizabeth Shawl, and ended up setting it aside. But it will be fixed eventually. She also worked on her 3/4 Hap Shawl, and started a TGV using a Schoppel-Wolle Crazy Zauberball in Indisch Rosa.

Danie’s Lintilla grew a bit, as did her Zigzagular Socks. She also picked up her Mother’s Day Cast-On 2013 project, but has some doubts about it. She may be casting on a TGV of her own…

Future Projects

Susie swatched for Hitofude using Wollemeise Pure in Ein Klein Wenig Verrucht, and will be knitting it for her Mother’s Day Cast-On. She is also participating in Camp Loopy 2014 Project 1, and will be knitting Bramble Fern in Cascade 220 Superwash in Provence. She is also planning on another shawl (or three) and the patterns catching her eye are Brickless, Rippling, and Tan House Brook Shawl.

Danie has decided to spin for her Mother’s Day project, and will be using fiber from the amazing and mythical Countess Ablaze.

Susie’s stash was enhanced by two gorgeous skeins from Ladybug Fiber, including a skein for her Mother’s Day Cast-On 2015 (crazy town!).
